'Raising Money Through Music for Shelter'

Nathan Fake, Justin Broadrick and more team up to fight homelessness for seventeenth anniversary of Audioscope Festival on November 19.

A rare show from British electronica ace Nathan Fake tops this year’s Audioscope festival in Oxford, heading an outstanding lineup of the best underground and alternative artists, all raising money for homelessness charity Shelter.

Also taking the stage alongside the Ninja Tune star will be Godflesh/Jesu legend Justin Broadrick, performing under his typically-uncompromising JK Flesh alias, along with Berlin-based synth-shoegaze duo The KVB.

A rare solo show from Grumbling Fur/Ulver mainman Daniel O’Sullivan paints an intimate portrait of his 2017 album Veld, while at the noisier end of the lineup, underground  supergroup Sex Swing, featuring members of Earth, Part Chimp and Mugstar, will be bringing the volume.

The lineup so far, with more acts to be announced, is Nathan Fake, JK Flesh, The KVB, Daniel O’Sullivan, Sex Swing, R. Seiliog, July Skies and Masiro.

The all-day festival takes place on November 19 at The Bullingdon in Oxford.

Since 2001, more than 200 artists from across the UK and beyond have supported Audioscope, raising well over £30,000 for the charity.

Co-organiser Stuart Fowkes said: “When we started out in 2001 with the idea to fill one day with as much amazing music as we could find, we didn’t even know there’d be a second edition, let alone that we’d be celebrating our seventeenth festival.

“To have been able to present some of our all-time favourite artists from around the world and raised so much to fight homelessness at the same time is both an incredible achievement and a privilege for us.”

Audioscope have also released five albums featuring new and exclusive tracks to raise money for Shelter, boasting the support of artists including Ride, Amon Tobin, Eluvium, John Parish, Beak>, Dirty Beaches and Future of the Left. Four Tet contributed a new composition, which he named ‘Audioscope’ in support of the festival.

Previous shows have starred the likes of Public Service Broadcasting, Four Tet, Wire, Damo Suzuki (Can), Gazelle Twin, Plaid, Silver Apples, Explosions in the Sky, Clinic, Michael Rother (Neu!), and Deerhoof.
