Emily's Pole Fitness to host spook-tacular event this Halloween

Emily’s Pole Fitness will be holding their 11th Halloween Show on Saturday 30 October.

The show will be held in Level 3 on Commercial Road in Swindon Town Centre.

Emily’s Pole Fitness is based in Unit 78, BSS House of Swindon’s Cheney Manor Industrial Estate. Classes in Pole Dancing, Aerial Hoop and Aerial Silks are available. The dance school also offer children’s Aerial Hoop and Silk classes.

Founder and director, Emily Smith, said she has always loved Halloween and as soon as she set up Emily’s Pole Fitness back in April 2010, she knew that she wanted to host an annual Halloween show.

She said: “I live for shows and entertaining people. They are so much fun and it’s always a joy to see how the audience react to different performers. When I was in school I’d never have imagined performing but if I can do it then anyone can!

“I was always a very shy and insecure person before I started pole dancing and it really helped me with my confidence and made me feel a lot better about myself. I always worried about my body, but as soon as I started dancing I no longer cared about what anyone thought of me.

“It’s an empowering thing to be able to ignore others and feel good about yourself. In our society it is becoming more acceptable to love ourselves and this is what we promote at my school. I want every single student to feel amazing and love who they are. No one needs to change, everyone is beautiful and we really believe this, and we help our students to gain confidence and believe in themselves too.

“Our shows are a way for our students to feel absolutely amazing by wowing the audience with some awesome spins, tricks, characters, costumes, make up and dance.”

The event will be for ages 18 and over.

Tickets are priced at £5 and can be bought on the door. Emily’s Pole Fitness would like to remind members of the public that tickets cannot be booked in advance.

Instructor, Dani Tomkins said: “The Halloween Show is such a safe space to perform. Everyone is welcome to showcase their work, from beginners’ right through to instructors. It’s a diverse evening with the most supportive audience – I enjoy every moment of it!”

The show will feature multiple different performances from both instructors and students. The team describe the routines as both ‘creepy and weird’ and ‘super sexy and fun.’

Abbie Parsons-Clarke said: “Performing at Emily’s Pole Fitness’ Halloween Show has always been so much fun. I love the confidence boost from the audience and the instructors, it’s just incredible!! I’m always made to feel at ease when I’m in class or performing! The best decision I ever made was joining Emily’s Pole Fitness.”

Instructors and students at Emily’s Pole Fitness rehearse and work hard for weeks leading up the event to ensure they have perfected their routines.

Katie Thompson said: “All abilities are given the opportunity to choreograph and showcase what they have learnt at Emily’s Pole Fitness in a safe, encouraging environment. Great fun to perform at or just be a part of the audience.”

Drag queen, Chaos who hosts most of Emily’s Pole Fitness’ shows, will be the compere for the show. Chaos (aka Phoenix Stewart) is a close friend of Emily’s and is said to like getting the audience involved. The team at Emily’s Pole Fitness say Chaos usually ends up with quite a few audience members on stage throughout the night!

Instructor, Leah Hewlett said: “The Halloween Show is the highlight of my year! With a friendly atmosphere and brilliant performances by talented, hard-working students and instructors. An event for anyone and everyone.”

Louise Whichello added: “I love being a part of the Emily’s Pole Fitness family. My confidence continues to grow from being with such a positive and supportive group. When performing, the audience are always so encouraging and create an amazing buzzing atmosphere!”

Audience members are invited to dress up and the two best dressed audience members will win a prize.
