UK tour launched promoting women and diversity within the live music scene

The Lips Can Kill tour combines four unique London-based bands together with aims of bringing a more female and diverse presence into the live music scene.

The idea for the tour first came to fruition in 2019, when four singers and frontwomen found they had a common goal and likeminded ideas regarding touring around the UK.

The Lips Can Kill tour joins Healthy Junkies’ singer Nina Courson, Anelise Kunz of Yur Mum, Myura Amara from Pollypikpocketz and Dolly Daggerz from Tokyo Taboo.

Each singer and their band performing, represents different respective cultures. Nina moved from France to the UK to pursue music, Anelise is from Brazil, Myura is of Sri Lankan heritage and Dolly is British.

A spokesperson for the tour said: “This is an all-inclusive group of people who work in harmony with each other in their quest to bring joy, excitement, energy and exceptional performance to wherever they venture.

“The four singers work in solidarity with each other and give support to one another rather than being in conflict and opposition to each other.”

The Lips Can Kill team say the gigs are a safe space for women and anyone from the LGBTQ+ community. The team report that there was only one stand-out incident during the last tour in Corby, where a male member of the audience touched Dolly Daggerz of Tokyo Taboo in an inappropriate and unacceptable manner. The man was said to have been called to account immediately.
