Rufus Wainwright releases new concert recording

The artist unveils his new concert album ‘Unfollow the Rules - The Paramour Sessions’ on vinyl and for digital download on September 10.

The live concert recording features tracks from Wainwright’s 2020 album ‘Unfollow the Rules’ and some other classic songs from his canon.

The 2020 album ‘Unfollow The Rules’ was produced by Mitchell Froom of Crowded House, Paul McCartney and Randy Newman at a variety of legendary Los Angeles studios. The collection is described as ‘finding Wainwright at the peak of his powers, entering artistic maturity with passion, honesty, and a new-found fearlessness.’

‘Unfollow The Rules’ earned a  GRAMMY® Award nomination for “Best Traditional Pop Album” and Juno Award nod for “Adult Alternative Album of the Year.”

‘The Paramour Sessions’ was recorded live in a ballroom at the Paramour Mansion in Los Angeles. The album sees Wainwright accompanied by a guitarist, pianist and string quartet, and features two previously unreleased tracks ‘Treat a Lady’ and ‘Happy Easter.’

The live concert was recorded during the first wave of covid, with the musicians and producers having to follow all the safety guidelines.

It was premiered last summer in partnership with ALL ARTS, Arte/ZDF and the WNET Group, and was nominated for a New York Emmy.
