George Eve’s previous single ‘Gates’ earned audio and video premieres from Complex and Clash respectively, earning the young singer-songwriter a rush of tastemaker acclaim to add to previous airplay from Jack Saunders at Radio 1. He now looks set to add to the growing attention he’s receiving as he today shares the follow up ‘I Don’t Mind’. Listen HERE. Both songs feature on his debut EP ‘Burger The Exit’, which will follow on May 27th.

‘I Don’t Mind’ takes a leftfield turn into lo-fi, bedroom indie-pop, assisted by the likeable, easygoing charm of George’svocals. Despite that subtle stylistic shift, the song also possesses a similarly positive and carefree atmosphere to ‘Gates’ as a breezy hook and addictive handclaps deliver a refreshing summer vibe.

The song was inspired by a lyric from the Alex Cameron and Angel Olsen duet ‘Stranger’s Kiss’ and includes further references to artists as varied as Leonard CohenClairo and Dominic FikeGeorge wrote ‘I Don’t Mind’ before developing it further with Sam Duckworth (AKA Get Cape. Wear Cape Fly.), with mixing provided by Sean Oakley (GeorgiaLa Roux).

”‘I Don’t Mind’ was recorded outside as a quick demo,” says George“You can hear birds at the beginning of the track. It was a simple acoustic song with an ‘everything’s gonna be alright sentiment’ holding two fingers up to anxiety and procrastination. I really liked what I caught in the demo, so for the next few months I tried to recreate it to improve the recording quality. However it was impossible. I ended up editing the out-of-time guitar and the drums, which were recorded with one mic in my attic, to be in time with the vocals. It was a serious piece of computer based editing, but it kept the original vibe that felt so special.”

The four songs that will feature on the ‘Burger The Exit’ EP were written while George was staying in a caravan in Joshua Tree in California. It represents a confident evolution in his sound following his early independent tracks ‘My Girl’ and ‘One Track Mind’.

‘Burger The Exit’ will be released on the new label Everybody’s Music, which was born out of the management company that’s home for artists such as Jack Garratt and Keane
