5 Tips to Convince your Customers to Review your Online Products

You should want your customers to leave you good reviews. These reviews will bring you new customers and more visibility. It can be difficult to convince your customers to leave reviews – read on for tips to make it easier!

Make it Easy

Nobody likes to be held up, whether off- or online. One of the best ways to encourage people to leave reviews of your products is to make it as easy as possible. Try and set things up so they don’t have to do any more site navigation, if possible. Give them an option to leave a review on the same screen that tells them their order has been placed! When somebody has finished shopping, they will be moving on to other things. They won’t want to go through another process to leave reviews; they will just want to get it done.

Encourage them

Try and encourage your customers to leave reviews by showing them other reviews. Many sites now have reviews on their own personal site. If you can guide your customers to those reviews, then they might feel persuaded to leave their own reviews. People often don’t want to make waves. If you can convince them that a review won’t make them stand out, they will be more open to writing one. Encourage your customers to try and leave reviews by leading them to screens with other reviews. They might leave one after seeing all the others people have left you.

Follow up Later on

Rather than asking people for reviews right away, why not follow up at a later date? It puts less pressure on people, and so can have good results.

Many online sites require email addresses for both ordering and newsletters. Why not get in touch with your customers after the fact? You could send them an email with their receipt, and also a link to leave a review. Most people are finished with the site when they are finished with their transactions. You will likely find that you get more reviews this way.

Make Sure Everybody Has a Good Experience

This should go without saying, but the easiest way to get a good review is to give a good experience.

If you give a customer the best shopping experience they have ever had, and then ask for a review? You will probably get a good review. People who feel stressed and insulted, however, will not leave you with a good review. Make sure that everyone has a good experience when they come to your site! Building positive reviews will be much easier for you if you do.

Don’t Force the Issue

The worst thing you can do is force the issue. People don’t like to be pushed, so if you try too hard, you may end up losing a customer. Even worse, they might feel irritated enough to leave a bad review somewhere else! Many people don’t want to leave a review. That’s fine – they don’t need to. Make it clear that it is an optional extra. If people feel forced, then they will be much less likely to do what you want. If people understand that you are asking them for an optional extra, they will be more open to it.
